Photo Baby Faces

This picture was taken for the Photo by Design Online Workshop by Kim Manley Ort. The workshop concentrates on the building blocks of photography...light, lines, shapes, texture, perspective, etc.  This one, and 26 more were taken for the lesson on perspectives.  You can see my review of the Photo by Desine Online Class here.

Prospective Client Doesn't Think REALTORS Want Business

Yesterday I got an email from someone that I had spoken to about a month ago.  He had called me about something I had written about in one of my Real Estate blogs, then I received this yesterday.  I laughed at his assessment of how REALTORS spend their time.

Apparently this prospect had been trying to write an offer, and was frustrated when he found out the house he had wanted went into Escrow that morning, and his offer was never written up.  Here is the email I got (with the address omitted) and a few identifying info changed.

Kathy
Hello again,
We talked sometime ago.....as I said I was in the market for purchase.
Maybe we can do something ....... I was interested in (insert address here).
I was hoping you could tell me if its avail. or has an offer on it or what. I hope you might be able to help.Seems like there is no business realtors are saying but then you want to put a offer in and boy O boy all the excuses come out.....
I got to go to the store ..... my boyfriend of X yrs ago is coming to town and wants to reconnect...... I have to go to the casino and try to make some money.....My mothers dead brothers ex wife cousins brother wants to do dinner.........O my dog needs to go to the vet........O that property is not worth it.......... O no there going to be a prison out there not a good buy...........my left rear tire needs air the night you want to write the offer,  maybe Tues night we can do it........on and on and on..........Maybe you can help........ I'm over the BULLSHIT
Thanks Kathy, I am pre-qualed ..... Please let me know asap if you think you can help me.

I laughed so hard at this, as yes with the downturn many REALTOR's have gotten accustomed to not working the same as they used to, and I really could feel the frustration.  Good thing I also have good people skills because when I called we were able to resolve the problem, and I am writing a back-up offer to the property.

This is the email that I got after our conversation.

Hello Kathy
Was nice to hear from you SO SOON!  I look forward to working with you.

Yes, this is a crazy business we're in....frustrated REALTORS and frustrated prospects. Have no fear though, there are REALTORS that won't be in the casino, grooming their dog, have working cars, and already made amends with the old boyfriend.

Google Preview

Thanks to Bobby Carroll at Dakno I went to Google to see how the new Preview looked.  Here is what showed when I clicked on my California Real Estate and Life Blog  that showed on Google.  Pretty cool!  Just put your name in Google, then click the magnifying glass to see a preview.

Merry Christmas to All from My House to Yours

The Christmas Season means many things to many people, but the one thing that we all have in common is the ability to stop and enjoy the moment.  Time to reach out to others, and time to share with those we care about.  So, for all my friends, both that celebrate and those that don't....may I send heartfelt wishes from my house to yours. Merry Christmas.. Happy Holidays!  And thank you for the gifts you've given during the year of friendship.....the most special holiday gift of all :)

Nature's Art: Appreciating the Small Things in Life Through Photography

This week I am in a photography mood as well as a reflective one. I've been thinking of all the things in life we take for granted, and that reminded me of some of my photos of things people often overlook.  We don't always see what's in front of us, but when we do there is often great beauty.

Whitewater Jail Revised EIR

Whitewater Jail looks like it just might end up passing all the hurdles. A little over a week ago a revised EIR was released and Public comments are once again open.  You have until December 13th to comment on the R-EIR (revised Environmental Impact Report).  However there is a catch....they won't allow comments on the original EIR only on the 2 points from the revised one that was released recently.

FHA will now accept e-signatures for Real Estate Contracts

Good news for those of us that use technology:

The FHA (Federal Housing Administration), as of April 8, 2010 will now be accepting electronic signatures as a valid way to sign your Real Estate Contract!  This is great news for people that are on the go, live out of area, or just want a fast efficient way to get and sign all the paperwork that is involved in Real Estate transactions.

How to Prepare for an Earthquake

Earthquakes_shattered_earth

Many areas have Earthquakes. In the past week we have had 6 Earthquakes where I live, not aftershocks, but earthquakes. A few of them were scary even though I have lived with them all my life in California. What if an Earthquake happened in your town, would you be prepared?

How do you prepare for an Earthquake? What can you do to help prepare your home and your family if an Earthquake struck your home? What basic items do you need in case of major damage?

Living on the San Andreas Fault in Southern California I know that one of these days the "Big One" will come, and being prepared is important to my mental health, especially after this week.

Here is something I wrote to help everyone that lives in Earthquake Country be prepared. There are some important  resources and some important supplies for you and your pets. This article, Earthquakes: How to prepare for one, will help you be prepared, and by being prepared you too will have peace of mind.
